IIT/AIEEE/BITSAT Aspirants read this and be ‘HAPPY’

IIT-JEE, perhaps the most popular word among the students of India. The tag ‘IITian’ does everything for you and you need to say nothing about your caliber. This popularity and a chance to make their mark attracts students towards JEE. So, how can you be among the 'happy' ones rather than being in the crowd of unhappy ones who were not selected in 'IIT-JEE'?

Most of the people would say that I undermined the non-qualifiers in my above statement and yes, that is exactly what I’ve done. The best thing is not to give others a chance to undermine you. Students give too much importance to IIT-JEE’s results and blinded by this illusion they fail to see what they’ve gained. In my opinion even a student who comes close to being qualified is a very good student and can be really successful in life. It is because students start undermining their own selves that others get a chance to do the same.

So, how will this article help you? This article hasn’t talked anything about exam yet. So, what is the point? Students, your ultimate aim should be to remain happy. Now, I don’t mean you go out and get a girlfriend to remain happy. I meant being satisfied with the college you get.

The perfect time to start preparation is your Class 11th because your mind is fresh and relaxed. You will find it easier to grasp everything. Now, Class 12th is a little late not because you enjoyed in 11th but because you must have missed out some important points. Honestly, I give a lot of importance to schooling but the pattern of IIT-JEE is very different (I don’t know why). The approach of preparation should be very different. When a school student begins coaching in Class 12th he finds certain thing contradicting and bizarre tricks to solve problems complicated. Had he started out in 11th these problems would not have occurred. Also, JEE requires you to solve a lot of problems and 2 years can give you a lot of time.

Another aspect of preparation are misconceptions, the biggest one being the fact that students think that they need to solve really difficult problems to get through JEE. The students fail to see that only a few question in the paper are extremely difficult while the rest are of moderate difficulty. Some students don’t practice the easy questions at all due to which they lose speed. Speed is the deciding factor. To secure a good rank you need more marks and those marks can come from easy questions. If you’re slow you’ll miss out on some easy questions. Did your ability to solve hard questions help? The student should focus on solving questions of moderate difficulty quickly.

Now comes the most important thing, your complete focus should be to get into one of the top colleges and that includes non-IITs too. Sometimes students get so obsessed with IITs that they simply fail in other competitions although it is strange but it happens. If you don’t perform well in JEE you get depressed and spoil other papers too. To avoid this change your aim, aim to get into a “good college” and not just “IIT”.

To make sure you’re happy after all your exams end make it your business to read and solve NCERT P,C,M books. It is indispensable if you want to do good in atleast one of the exams. Solve your coaching booklets, H.C Verma etc do whatever you want but trust me NCERT can act as a helmet in case an accident occurs. Imagine you don’t qualify in IIT but score 350+ in BITSAT then you’ve fulfilled you new aim which I’ve mentioned above. For BITSAT NCERT is extremely important. NCERT helps in all examinations especially in BITSAT and much in AIEEE. Even then if you fail, you’ll atleast be able to beat GBTU and get HBTI Kanpur which is a good college.

Whatever I’ve said comes from my personal experiences and also from the experiences of a lot of other students whom I consult. JEE is, no doubt, difficult but isn’t unbeatable. No matter what happens don’t make it your obsession because it can only harm you. What you should be obsessed with is engineering and your trade because remember interest matters more in the long run. Best of luck everyone and remember my formula of being ‘HAPPY’.
